Master of Arts in International Studies

The Master of Arts in International Studies is a 36-hour, non-thesis program designed to equip leaders for service in a broad array of multicultural contexts, including for-profit business, non-profit/non-governmental organizations, diplomacy, and government. The degree provides a broad-based view of how the interplay between diverse cultures affects commerce, diplomatic relations, society, government, religion, foreign affairs, the arts, and other facets of society in today’s global environment. Graduates of the program will be equipped to lead with distinction and diplomacy in an ever-globalizing world, as well as serve their communities in culturally-sensitive ways.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

Admission Requirements Specific to This Program:

Master of Arts in International Studies applicants must: 1) have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by DBU, 2) show strong moral character commensurate with the University’s mission of producing servant leaders, and 3) demonstrate through their academic record a likelihood of success in the Master of Arts in International Studies program. In addition to these requirements, the applicant’s record of service in the community and in positions of leadership will be considered.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

MAIS 5001 International Job Shadowing is a required course unless the student chooses MAIS 5310 Short-Term International Immersion Experience (S-L) or the International Immersion concentration. In MAIS 5001, the student shadows an international leader in a foreign country for one business week.
